Safitri Icmi

I am a PhD student in Energetics at Politecnico di Torino, Cycle 41. I joined the MAHTEP research group in November 2025. My doctoral research focuses on demand flexibility in Energy System Optimization Models (ESOMs). The objective of my research is to explore the role and value of end-use flexibility in achieving decarbonization pathways in the energy sector.

My master’s research focused on the sustainable assessment of decentralized energy systems.

Before joining the MAHTEP research group, I worked as a Program Officer for Sustainable Energy Access at a think-tank organization based in Jakarta, Indonesia. In this role, I collaborated closely with government institutions and non-governmental actors to promote the energy transition through evidence-based policy advocacy and data-driven research. The projects I was involved in include:

  • Energy Planning for Central Java and Jambi Province (LEAP)
  • Bali Net Zero Emission (NZE) Initiative 2045
  • Rooftop Solar PV and Electric Stove as a Social Safety Net for Low-Income Communities in Jambi Province

I also worked as a Research Assistant at the Center for Energy Studies, Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia, focusing on socio-technical studies of decentralized energy systems for energy communities in rural and remote areas
