Advanced heat transfer problems

Nuclear fusion is recognized as one of the most viable solutions for securing a large-scale, safe, environmentally friendly, and essentially endless energy source. Our research group is looking into some of the key components that will be used in future fusion reactors. The thermo-hydraulic modeling of superconducting magnets and detailed component modeling with CAE methodologies are the two macro-themes we are studying.

• Simulation of Gyrotron cavity cooling system equipped with Rashig Rings (RR)
  
• Cooling system based on Triply Periodic Minimal Surfaces for a mirror inserted in the trasmission line of fusion reactor ECHR systems
  
• Assessment of the use of Triply Periodic minimal Surfaces as heat sinks for a divertor tile in nuclear fusion reactor
  
• Development of a methodology for the shape optimization for gyrotron resonators
